Swing labels that survive an argument
Most chart arguments are vocabulary arguments in disguise. One person calls a two-bar pause a swing; another wants a clear three-bar pivot. Both can be reasonable — until they try to share a risk plan.
Pick a house rule for the session
In our intensives we freeze a definition for the day. Example: a swing high is a high with two lower highs on both sides on the timeframe in use. We write it on the board. Anyone who wants a looser rule must propose it before the first drill, not during.
Why the freeze matters
Without a freeze, people “win” debates by quietly moving their pencil. With a freeze, you discover how often price is genuinely ambiguous. Ambiguity is useful information: it usually means you wait, reduce size, or stand aside.
Takeaway for your own desk
Write your swing rule at the top of the sheet. If you change it mid-week, date the change. Trend structure work fails fastest when the ruler itself keeps shifting.
